Certificate of Origin & document authentication

The Oriental Chamber of Commerce is authorized by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, to issue Non-preferential Certificates of Origin and attest export documents.

Guidelines for document authentication

The Chamber authenticates export documents such as invoices, packing lists, declarations, product certificates and insurance documents, as required by member applicants to facilitate their trade activities.

Before submitting documents

  • Submit the documents with a request letter on the company’s letterhead.
  • Authentication and attestation are carried out on the basis of an Indemnity Bond. The bond must be provided on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs. 60/-.
  • The continuing Indemnity Bond does not need to be submitted with every set of documents. The draft format is available at the Chamber’s office.

Certificate and affidavit format

  • Use the proper certificate format. Blank formats are available at the Chamber’s office.
  • Certificates and other documents must be duly signed, with the signatory’s designation clearly stated, and accompanied by a copy of the commercial invoice.
  • Affix the company stamp or seal on each document.
  • The Chamber retains one copy of each authenticated or attested document for its records.
  • Leave sufficient space for the Chamber’s seal and the authorized signatory’s signature.
  • Authentication and attestation fees are payable in cash only.
  • Allow a minimum of 30–40 minutes for document processing.
  • Authentication and attestation fee: Rs. 40/-.
